What happens if you side with harkon
You want to pull a Harkon? Just go to Whiterun, strip nekkid, run up to the nearest guard and punch him square in the face. When he asks you if you'll give up, tell him you'd rather die and then stand there and let him do it.
Essentially, this IS what Harkon is doing, suicide by cop. Spoiler I swept through the DG hold like a plague.
If the DG already knows where the castle is random attacks , then so does the rest of Skyrim and so would Tamriel. The vamps just aren't enough of a threat to claim all out war at the moment, but you can certainly bet one would squeal once put to the test after being captured and townsfolk are killing them and let the humans know from where the darkened sun originated. Not in a day maybe, but a week or month, sure. The only recourse, for the entire world, would be to descend upon Harkon's lair and gain the "cure", if there is one, or die trying.
How can that not be understood? No matter how strong an individual is, he can not stand against everyone else. Would it be nice to teach you that lesson the hard way? Absolutely, but nothing p's off a player more than to stack them up against an unwinnable war to an unwinnable conclusion. Only a small army of 10, would be more than enough against 12 vamps, dragonborn or not.
After the battle is over, Garan Marethi if you are a vampire or Isran if you are a member of the Dawnguard will enter the room, and will commend you for defeating Lord Harkon. He will then explain that there will be a new beginning for the Volkihar vampires or the Dawnguard, thus completing the Dawnguard questline. Serana will tell you that she will stay at Castle Volkihar or Fort Dawnguard, but will accompany you on your travels should you ask her. One achievement is unlocked when you complete this quest:.

Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done. Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order.
Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages. If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
This is one of the few opportunities where firing Sunhallowed Arrows into the sun with Auriel's Bow will provide additional help, provided that it is daytime.
Once these foes are dead, Castle Volkihar can be entered. Florentius remains behind to guard the entrance while the others head in. These vampires are the higher-ranked members and are very dangerous, but tend not to congregate. Fura, Hestla, Orthjolf and Salonia all wield leveled weapons along with their Vampiric Drain spells and tend to stay in the main hall. Vingalmo, Garan Marethi and Feran Sadri are all powerful spellcasters and prefer to run along the upper balconies while hosing the area with powerful Destruction spells and Ronthil will take refuge in the room full of coffins and use a leveled bow and arrows if confronted.
The Dragonborn may choose to join their Dawnguard allies in cleansing the castle of its vampire presence, or hide and watch instead. Alternatively, it is possible to ignore the vampires and rush into the cathedral directly, skipping the entire fight until the final confrontation with Harkon. Once Harkon is killed, all the vampires outside will be found dead afterward. If the Volkihar Vampires have been sided with, then after speaking with Serana head directly to Castle Volkihar.
Several members of the court will be loitering around the castle as usual, each with some additional dialogue relating to the finding Auriel's bow. Follow the objective marker and enter the castle's cathedral. Upon entering the cathedral, Harkon will be waiting in his Vampire Lord form and will initiate a conversation with Serana:. Harkon: "So, you've returned. Is your You disappoint me, Serana.
You've taken everything I provided for you and thrown it all away for this Are you insane? You've destroyed our family. You've killed other vampires. All over some prophecy that we barely understand. No more. I'm done with you. Your voice drips with the venom of your mother's influence.
How alike you've become. Serana: "No Because unlike her, I'm not afraid of you. Not anymore. At this point he turns to the Dragonborn. The following conversation between Harkon and the Dragonborn will vary slightly depending upon what faction has been joined:.
I knew it was only a matter of time before she'd return with hatred in her heart. Hatred born of your neglect: "A small price to pay for the betterment of our kind. I would never harm Serana.
She's too important to me: "Then my daughter is truly lost. She died the moment she accepted a mortal into her life. I'm only here to kill you: "I see. Interesting that you can set aside your morals when it suits you. This is about more than killing vampires: "Ah, of course. The prophecy. You've come here to stop me from taking Auriel's Bow and shrouding the world in darkness. I knew it was only a matter of time before your ambition outgrew your loyalty.
You never intended to let me live: "A small price to pay for the betterment of our kind. You're an insult to our kind: "Oh, come now Mai emulsion. User Info: clone Not even if I bake him cookies? Welcome to the House of WE. I came fully prepared for insults and unfriendliness. So thanks for the tip and the welcome! User Info: OmegaPenguinX I haven't joined the vamp quest but on my DG character I did see an option to give him the bow at the last minute. Didn't even think to choose it and see what happens though.
Because penguins! That's why! I don't care if I have to be a dick to Harkon too, I'm just concerned with making it permanently night time. I'm role playing an evil vampire sneak thief. So I guess my question then becomes: is fulfilling the prophecy one of the possible outcomes of the questline?
User Info: uniballer If you ask Serana after you complete the DLC main questline you can get arrows to block out the sun for the day. I'm Not Even Remotely Dorky send me a message if you get this and you will get props for it. Props given Gamertag: Spudball.
